I can respect that -- I imagine it's similar to my pet peeves with slash and dominant OTPs meaning that I can never enjoy a Stiles/Derek story. And actually, since one of my pet peeves with that is the way minor pairings are preferentially allowed if they don't break up the main OTP and so girl characters don't get their pick of anyone - that's a point in Lydia/Stiles' favor, for me. An ornery point.
But more important is that Teen Wolf for me is all Lydia, all the time. I would hate to let the showrunners dictate how I was allowed to enjoy the story (if I can help it, anyway - sometimes I can't help it, e.g. by rage-quitting Doctor Who over River Song living in a fucking prison controlled by men and lectured daily about her evilness and guilt). Also, Lydia I view as a geek, a huge science and math geek, and when I ship Lydia and Stiles, it's not about geek Stiles getting the hot girl, it's about Lydia getting to be a geek and get a nice one with niiiice hands. It feels different from Stargate Atlantis where they set up a lovely Ronon and Keller story and then the writers were like, OH NO, WE WANT RODNEY TO GET A PRIZE. Me: Die in a fire.
Though I am prepared to be annoyed with however it does go down in canon (since I would like to see it go down... much later). Especially if (as the pairing no doubt drags on and on for canon UST purposes) choosing Stiles is given a "morally right choice" flavor vs. muscle-bound dudes.
