I have discovered that what a grown up job means is: I get home, I stare at the wall or the TV for a few hours while my brain recharges, and then I go to bed. It turns out this is the perfect amount of time + total lack of motivation needed to draw a lot of pictures on my tablet. I have made, like, a tablet nest on my couch, surrounded by stacks of the photo reference books I bought in the Barnes and Noble discount section (Treehouses of the world! Castles! The Ultimate Guide to Reptiles!).

1. I finished all the ones you guys rec'd earlier (thanks!), so forgive me for being this out of the loop a second time -- Do you know of any art-friendly challenges going on in your fandom? e.g., Psych, Naruto, Burn Notice, SGA, Doctor Who, H5O, XMFC, ST:Reboot, Leverage, Highlander, SPN, Temeraire, Vorkosigan Saga (she says with foolish optimism), and some others.

2. Also, would anyone be interested in a reversebang-ish thing with me? You give me a fandom, characters, + a few favorite things, and I make you a picture prompt (like so or like so) that you could write for, say, yuletide-length? ish? (You know, longer than a comment fic but shorter than a miss_porcupine comment fic.) I'm just gauging if it's a crazy idea.

dc_dystopia is holding a reverse big bang. I have no idea how your style would work for 'dystopia', but I really want to see it!

spn_bitesized apparently runs small challenges on a bi-weekly (ish) basis. IDK, I've just come over to DW this week.

50states_spn lets you art for "local traditions and mythologies around the United States." (do thhhiiiis. pleasssse?)

deancasbigbang but art claiming isn't until August.

Sweet! I have signed up for dc_dystopia because I think what a dark fic challenge really needs is more chibis. Or treehouses. I think I can work treehouses into a dystopia prompt.

The 50 states SPN challenge seems closed, but I will keep the big bang in mind come August. Thanks for the links! I am super excited about the first one. :)

My first thought was Darcy Lewis and Clint Barton, but those are Thor characters. I can do Captain America too! Steve, Peggy, the crew, etc. Tony Stark too if you like. :)

The two thoughts that come immediately to mind are:

Methos & Steve Rogers (or Methos/Steve if it goes that way and you don't mind slash), and "Just a guy", which they both try to pretend applies to them.

Amanda & Darcy, "hijinx ensue" which I think would be hilarious fun for you to play with and me to write.

But hell, I could do you Rebecca Horne and Natasha Romanov, Joe Dawson & Nick Fury, um, really, there's a lot of fun waiting in this. So go for it. ::cheerful:: Or you know, I can do straight Marvel or straight HL if you don't want to crossover.

ETA: Short version: If you had fun drawing it, I will almost certainly have fun writing a fic to it, so please, cut loose, have a blast!

Hi! I had a few quick questions. There are a few particular pairings I am considering based on your avengers character list, your highlander character list, and my grabby hands, but I don't want you to end up with a picture that makes you feel like you got trapped by contract terms.

Please tell me if you have any preferences or restrictions to gen, het, or slash. Because unless you tell me otherwise, there might be het in your future. Or at least gen with boys and girls. :)

Also crossovers, because right now I had not been leaning that way. I have not started even sketching though -- so whatever feedback you give whether it's "Wanted a challenging surprise!" or "Really only want to write a Methos/male avenger x-over", I can adapt. :)

::cheerful:: I can write het, but you'd be more likely to end up with gen. Which is, by the way, my default preference, so don't worry about that. I frequently do gen that can be read with relationship goggles -- or, okay, without a magnifying glass, but it's not the point of the story. Is that okay with you?

And if you want to draw a crossover, go for it. If you don't, I'm good with that too. I didn't offer fandoms/characters I couldn't/wouldn't write.

Oh, you periodically ask about challenges -- have you seen 20 Years of Highlander?

Gen is more than fine. I just saw you'd suggested Methos/Steve, and I wanted to make sure that was a brainstorm and not a fondest wish of the heart. I am totally fine with people liking what they like, so I didn't want to draw you Darcy Lewis writing JARVIS' facebook profile and have you go, "Oh. Well. Okay. :("

Of course, now I see the paragraph where you clearly said anything goes.

Thank you for the challenge link. I have honestly been a little wary of HL fandom since I was new to lj, not in HL fandom (except for reading all the archived fic ever for about a year), and made the rookie mistake of posting about how much I don't get Duncan/Methos slash. Then someone posted it to a newsletter! TERRIBLE IDEA. Still, that challenge sounds fantastic and I will check it out. :)

::giggling:: Oh, man. Darcy would have such a blast setting up Twitter or Livejournal or such for JARVIS! (Can you not see Tony using the OS Dreamwidth code and setting up a secure social network for SHIELD?) And nah, Methos/Steve was just a brainstorm. Now my brain's also kicking out 'Bucky walks into Joe's bar.' My brain just does this, which is why I can safely say yes, really, anything goes.

And oh, Lord. Sorry you had trouble. ::sighs:: Stuff like that is why we were referred to as 'the mean fandom,' damn it. But that HL challenge is very much a 'do what you want' thing. We deliberately set it up to give people room to just have fun. Killa & Devo & I are just providing a central location for people to post to and/or watch for new stuff.

Hey, I would do that. Your story length requirements sound very reasonable. *g* (I'm still slogging away at the long and plotty story that is now 40,000+ words, sigh.) Naruto by preference, Iruka or Kakashi or Anko or whoever takes your fancy (right now I'm pondering what Orochimaru would be doing in a treehouse, though), though I could probably also cope with SGA, or something with that Methos guy in some crossover treehouse. Or crossover castle. Or crossover reptile. Wait, that would be Orochimaru, wouldn't it...

This exactly! I actually commanded another fan to make up a Vorkosigan challenge just so you could post in it, but she's failing to comply, HMF. I am not brave enough to offer reversebang, but I'd love Vorkosiganverse art from you. :-)

I have had success in the past asking fic challenges if I can submit art but I didn't find any current challenges going on anyway, so a reversebang sounds good to me.

Do you mind if we wait until there is a round 2? I think I'm going to keep the current to do list at seven just to make sure prompts stay fresh in my head. The timing would be the same either way -- either I finish the 7 pictures and start on the next folks or I finish the 7 and then ask if anyone would like a round 2. :)
